The Excellence in Practice award is designed to acknowledge and show appreciation to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who consistently demonstrates excellence in nursing practice.
The award is given to a LPN who excels in caring and compassion in direct client care, demonstrates a positive team attitude, good interpersonal communication skills with colleagues and clients; lifelong learning, and a commitment to the profession of practical nursing by acting as a role model and mentor and motivating others by his/her example.
The selection committee chose Alison Normore as this year’s recipient is of the Excellence in Practice Award. Alison is an LPN Mary’s Harbour Community Clinic and was nominated by her colleagues. Labrador-Grenfell Health began a pilot in 2014 to explore if the LPN role would be valuable in a community clinic setting. Alison was the LPN for the pilot and this role has since proven to be an instrumental part of the team.
