Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA)

The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) is a provincial law that provides clarity for individual citizens regarding their right to information, and introduces a personal privacy regime to limit the collection, use and disclosure of personal information held by government or any of its agencies.

Approximately 460 public bodies are subject to ATIPPA, including government departments and agencies, school boards, public post-secondary institutions, health boards and municipalities. At Labrador-Grenfell Health, members of the public may request information in the custody or control of Labrador-Grenfell Health by completing the following ATIPPA Application Form:

How to Dispute a Decision

An applicant has two methods of recourse when they want to dispute a refusal of access; apply to the Supreme Court Trial Division for a review, or request a review through the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
