Labrador-Grenfell Health is advising the public that we are increasing efforts to provide COVID-19 immunizations and boosters to eligible individuals across the region.
Individuals who are:
- 5 years of age and older are encouraged to get vaccinated with a primary series (two doses) of an mRNA vaccine at least eight weeks apart.
- Moderately to severely immunocompromised are encouraged to get vaccinated with a primary series (three doses) of an mRNA vaccine at least eight weeks apart.
- Individuals 18 years of age and older are recommended to receive a booster dose of an mRNA vaccine at least 22 weeks (154 days) after their second dose.
- Individuals 17 years of age and younger are not recommended to receive a booster dose at this time.
Latest evidence suggests vaccine effectiveness against infection with COVID-19 is decreasing over time following completion of the primary series.
Based on NACI recommendations, in Newfoundland and Labrador, COVID-19 booster doses are available for all individuals ages 18 years and older when at least 22 weeks has passed since completion of their primary series.
- As an example, if you received your second dose on July 20, 2021, you can book your booster dose on or after December 21, 2021.
