Visitation restrictions in place to help slow spread of COVID-19 outbreaks

Public Notice – April 6, 2022

Visitation restrictions are in place at some Labrador-Grenfell Health facilities experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.

To help manage a COVID-19 outbreak, additional temporary visitation restrictions are part of the overall infection prevention and control measures. Outbreak area patients and residents can have one support person. Families of residents affected by unit or facility specific visitor restrictions are contacted by the LTC social worker. During these temporary visitation restrictions, phone and virtual visits are also encouraged.

Visitation restrictions do not apply to palliative care and end-of-life patients and residents. Families are asked to reach out to palliative care and end-of-life care teams to coordinate visitation.

Staying connected with family and friends as an in-patient or resident of a care facility is important for overall wellbeing. When in-person visitation isn’t an option, please talk to your care team about virtual visitation.

Keeping staff, patients, residents, and their families as safe as possible has remained our top priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
