Sam has an extensive background in business, education and industry. He holds a Bachelor of Vocational Education Degree (business major) and a Certificate in Business Administration through Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

For the past 17 years, Sam has been employed as Executive Director of a social enterprise, St. Anthony Basin Resources Inc. (SABRI), with an annual operations budget of approximately $1.5 million. Prior to joining SABRI, Sam was employed as a personnel officer, a human resources/costing coordinator, an instructor, an interviewer, and assistant manager with a finance company. He is presently a director on the Board of St. Anthony Seafood Limited (17 years), finance chair on the Port Authority of St. Anthony (10+ years) and treasurer for St. Mary’s Anglican Church (10 years). He previously served as a director with the Nortip Development Cooperation, a director with the Nordic Economic Development Corporation, finance chair of the Grenfell Historical Society, and chair of the St. Anthony Library Board.

Sam lives in St. Anthony.
