The Communicable Disease Control program aims to identify and help decrease the effects of communicable diseases on the health of people living in the Labrador Grenfell Health region.

The Communicable Disease Control Nurse (CDCN) works closely with the Medical Officer of Health and assists with the prevention, control, and management of communicable diseases in the community by providing consultation, education and advice to various community groups.

Communicable Disease Control programs facilitate the following:

  1. Publicly funded immunization programs (includes influenza vaccination program)
  2. Surveillance of communicable diseases
  3. Investigation of suspected and confirmed communicable diseases
  4. Management of outbreaks
