Labrador-Grenfell Health continues to increase services during Alert Level 3

Public Notice – June 10, 2020

Labrador-Grenfell Health is advising the public that the resumption of additional health care services has begun as the province enters Alert Level 3. Services will further expand to include appointments in ambulatory clinics, allied health services such as (but not limited to) rehabilitation services, physiotherapy, and audiology, along with appointments in community health.

Services that were previously increased in Level 4 – medical imaging, endoscopy, cardiac diagnostic, laboratory services, and surgical service – will continue to increase in Level 3. We continue to review patient lists to safely and efficiently address the needs of patients who have been waiting for procedures and appointments.

Patients whose health care needs are identified by their health care provider as high priority within these areas will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled. Patients should only proceed to appointments if they have been advised that their appointment is proceeding.  Certain procedures will require the patient to have a COVID-19 test completed and the results received prior to the procedure. These patients will be contacted up to 72 hours in advance to book their swab testing appointment. All patients admitted to hospital will require a COVID-19 test.

Virtual care delivery will continue to be provided where possible. Where virtual visits are not appropriate, in-person services will continue to employ physical distancing measures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Patients with questions or concerns regarding their health or changes in their condition are advised to contact their health care provider, call Healthline 811 or proceed to the nearest emergency department if emergency services are needed.

Measures are in place to protect individuals when entering our facilities. Designated entrances have been identified for patients, clients and visitors. Upon entry, individuals will be screened for COVID-19 through a series of questions and be provided a mask. We remind the public to practice physical distancing while in our facilities.
